T&T clip Jamaica 1-0
JAMAICA'S Reggae Boyz were clipped 1-0 by Trinidad and Tobago in last night's feature Copa Caribe match at the Hasely Crawford Stadium in Port of Spain. The winning goal came after just four minutes. Mickey Trotman dribbled down the left side of the field and crossed to the far post where Stern John controlled well before blasting through a wall of defenders past goalkeeper Aaron Lawrence. Jamaica played well below par throughout the game as the home team got all of the clear chances and could have won by a greater margin. In the first game of the Group A double header Grenada edged Guadeloupe 2-1 with a late goal from Jason Roberts. Guadeloupe grabbed an early lead through Patrice Damas-Agis, but Franklyn Drayton levelled the scores early in the second half, and Roberts gave the Grenadians three points with an 89th minute winner. Guadeloupe held the early advantage in the match, but the Grenadians battled back for the win, showing the determination and physical strength which allowed them to survive their tough Group 5 qualifying matches - against the Netherlands Antilles and Surinam - last month in Curacao. |
