Gerry Browne has been a winner at all levels of football. He led his primary school (Belmont Boys' R.C. School) to champions row in his senior year and was captain of the North's team which triumphed over their Southern counterpart captained by Bobby Sookram. He was also a member of his high school team (Belmont Intermediate School) which won the "A" colts competition defeating such archrivals as QRC, Fatima and ST. Marys. In his senior year at Belmont Inter. Gerry played with the Luton Town F.C. of the Northern Amateur Football League (NAFL) when they captured the league and knockout trophies and he being the leading goal scorer in the league. Gerry also represented the NAFL against the POSFL scoring the lone goal in a 1-0 victory.

In 1963 Gerry was recruited by the Colts S.C. of Belmont who campained in the first division of the POSFL and led the team to the Best Dark Virginia cup (BDV) and also led the league in goals scored. In 1964 Gerry was again recruited, this time by the Trinidad and Tobago Regiment and excelled until his departure at the conclusion of the 1967 season. During his four seasons with the Regiment "Army" Gerry led the team in goals scored each and every year with the team winning most of the trophies every year of competition. Also in 1964 prior to joining the Regiment gerry was selected to play on the National team in a game against the Red Devils of Brazil and was the goal scorer for Trinidad in a 1-3 losing cause. In 1967 he was a leading member of the Trinidad and Tobago national team which won the bronze medal at the Pan American Games in Winnipeg, Canada.

In 1968 Gerry was recruited by the Washington Darts of the American Soccer League where he began his professional soccer career. He led the Darts in scoring in 1968 & 1969 and the team won the championship in both years. In 1970, in an International game against Santos of Brazil featuring the legendary Pele, Gerry scored four (4) goals for the Darts in a 4-7 loss to Santos with Pele also scoring four (4) for Santos.

At the end of the 1971 season the Washington Darts was sold to a Florida businessman and the team was relocated to Miami. Rather than uprooting his family and move to Miami Gerry retired from professional football and remained in the Washington D.C. area where he still resides today.
