Trinidad Defeat Barbados, 3-1 In Inter-Colony Soccer


Trinidad beat Barbados, three to one in the third round of the Martinez Shield Inter-colonial football tournament this afternoon. A small crowd witnessed the play, the sun shining brightly and the ground firm.

Rolph Grant, Trinidad goalkeeper, was absent owing to a knee injury, and Arthur Foster, Barbados captain, stood down. Seymour Foster, Barbados back, scored Trinidad's first goal and Atkins the second a minute before the interval. Trinidad was better in the moderate first half. Sealy was ineffective in consequence of a recurrence of his ankle trouble and was moved to outside right. Ashby to inside and Leon Foster to centreforward.
Tha positional changed marked improvement in the play of Barbados who were superior in the fast second half but the Trinidad goal bore a charmed existence. The framework of which was frequently hit.
There was hesitancy on the part of Barbados defenders and McClure Trinidad's third. Trinidad's superior half backs supplied the principal factor for their deserved victory. The Barbados halves were slow and hesitant.
