La Horquetta Rangers coach Dave Quamina will not be taking last-place Moruga FC lightly as his team will take a similar approach to the match as in any other in the Ascension Football League on Friday.
Second-placed Rangers will face Moruga in the feature match of a double-header at the Phase II La Horquetta Recreation Ground today at 8 pm and if they come away with the win, will assume the top position on the standings, providing the result of the opening match between Defence Force and Deportivo PF.
Both Rangers and Defence Force are on four points from a win and a draw.
Quamina told Guardian Media they will not change their game-plan for any other team, saying: “We will play our natural game. We will play our natural game, no game is an easy game because on the day itself you have to go out there and perform.
“It’s just that we have to go out there and play our natural game. We have to show our opponents respect, not because you’re at the bottom of the league you will go into the game saying that you won already, you must show the opponent respect.
“We’re not going to re-invent the wheel, it’s the same. Everybody knows how we do play. Everybody knows our team so everybody has a fair idea of how we play.
“There is no strategy in how we play so we will not try to change for the next team. We try to focus on our game which is entertaining football, so if our football is attacking football we will play attacking football, just our natural game.”
Rangers played to a goalless draw with giants Defence Force in their opening game of the tournament but later rebounded to a 4-2 triumph over AC Port of Spain at the same venue last weekend.
In the other match of the night, defending champion Defence Force will have a date with Deportivo FC at the same venue from 6 pm. The army/coast guard combination team is in the third position on the standing after a 2-0 triumph over Central Soccerworld at the Velodrome last weekend.
Coach Hutson Charles who had concerns over the team’s performance in the second half of the Central Soccerworld match, said they have sorted out their concerns in the last match and will be going after the win later.
