Guerra nets beaver trick for Rangers in Ascension

FORMER Trinidad and Tobago footballer Ataulla Guerra scored a beaver trick to push Terminix La Horquetta Rangers two points clear of Defence Force in the Ascension Football tournament standings.

Rangers now have 29 points and Defence Force are second with 27 points.

Rangers crushed last-placed Moruga FC 7-1 in the second match of a double header played at the St James Police Barracks, on Friday.

Moruga FC opened the scoring through Tyrese Reifer in the 14th minute, but it was downhill from there for the southern club.

Before the 30th minute mark, Guerra had already completed his hat-trick to give Rangers a 3-1 lead. He scored in the 19th, 22nd and 29th minutes of play.

It was 4-1 at half-time as Emmanuel Thomas found the back of the net in the 32nd minute.

The goals continued to flow in the second half as Kadeem Corbin (54th) and Ross Russell Jnr (80th) were on target.

Guerra netted his fourth with a goal in the 83rd minute.

In the first match, Defence Force and Deportivo played to a 2-2 draw.

Brent Sam and Jameel Cooper scored in the 44th minute and 68th minute respectively for Defence Force.

Getting their name on the score sheet for Deportivo were Nathaniel Garcia (56th) and Shakiel Henry (64th).
