Trinidadian winger Kaile Auvray says although he left Mount Pleasant Academy FC on good terms he is a competitor and will be giving everything to help his new club, Cavalier Soccer Club, get the win over his former employers when the two teams meet in the opening Concacaf Caribbean Cup (CCC) Group A game at Sabina Park today at 5 p.m.
Auvray featured very little last season for beaten Jamaica Premier League (JPL) finalists Mount Pleasant.
Asked if he has a point to prove in today's match, Auvray said, "I don't necessarily have that point of view. My point of view is that it was time for me to make a change and Cavalier swooped in at the right moment.
"After one conversation with Mr (Rudolph) Speid I knew this was where I needed to be. I left Mount Pleasant on good terms so there's no bad blood," he insisted.
"That being said, I am a competitor. So obviously I want to have a good performance. But first and foremost this is about the team. So I am looking forward for the win," he said.
The 23-year-old said he is fitting in well with his new teammates and will be happy to pass on any inside information that could help his new club win the encounter.
"I recently joined Cavalier. I have been here for a few days and so far, so good. I get along very well with my teammates and I am looking forward to the game and looking forward for the three points.
"Obviously being a former Mount Pleasant player I know my (former) teammates very well. I am sure to communicate with my team and let them know a few inside things I might understand about the team," he stated.
Meanwhile, Mount Pleasant's sporting director Paul Christie pointed out that despite Cavalier being the more experienced team in this competition, there are no clear favourites whenever these teams meet.
"We know that experience counts, but it's what happens on the day. We are aware that the defending champions (Robinhood) are out of the competition already and they have a lot of experience winning it," he commented.
"But when Cavalier and Mount Pleasant meet experience and form goes out the window. It is always a dogfight and we expect nothing less. But we are up for the test and are prepared to give as good as we get," he said.
