The Dowling Golden Lions (1-0-1) beat the Le Moyne Dolphins (0-1) in dramatic fashion this afternoon, as a goal 7 minutes into overtime by senior forward Kariym Balthazar broke the secured the road victory, with the final score ending at 3-2.

The Golden Lions dominated in the free kick department during the game, as the first two Dowling goals were scored off of headers from free kicks. Senior midfielder Sean Dougherty connected with Senior back Mouhamed Mboup on two separate occasions for goals. The first goals came 35 minuted into the first half, and the second came just ten minuted into the second half.

Though up down 0-2, the Dolphins did not recede. They scored their first goal of the game with less than 15 minutes remaining in the second half, as Alex Lautner scored off of a cross from the left side. Their comeback did not stop there, as they the game with 2 minutes remaining thanks to the foot of their leading scorer Michael Spadine.

Going into overtime , Dowling was leading in both shots on goal and off sides, as they were the more offensive team throughout regulation. Overtime did not last long as forward Kariym Balthazar scored off of a brilliantly timed through ball by freshman midfielder Gair Olav Helgoey, who scored in Dowling's tie to UMass Lowell on Thursday. The goal was the first goal Balthazar scored as a Golden Lion. He was previously named an All American at Herkimer college in 2009.

Freshman goalkeeper Chris Friedl picked up his 1st collegiate victory as he saw minimal action with only 3 shots on goal in the game.

The Golden Lions now come home from their three day road-trip as they next play Bloomfield College on Wednesday September 5th.
