Former Trinidad and Tobago national Under 20 trialist Michael Roopchandsingh is enjoying a good run for his new team (Slippery Rock) since joining them in August of this year.

The 25th-ranked Slippery Rock University men's soccer team remained undefeated on the year with a 3-0 win on the road at the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown last Tuesday afternoon.

Slippery Rock was dominant in the opening period, posting a 15-4 advantage in total shots and a 4-1 edge in corner kicks. The Rock took a 1-0 lead into halftime with a goal from Michael Ramirez in the 38th minute.

The second half was more even statistically, with SRU posting advantages of 7-6 in shots and 3-1 in corner kicks, but goals from Mike Roopchandsingh and Ryan Lutke pushed the advantage out while The Rock defense kept the Mountain Cats off the board.

Slippery Rock finished the game with advantages of 22-10 in total shots, 6-3 in shots on goal and 7-2 in corner kicks.

Slippery Rock will kick off a six-game homestand when it returns to action Saturday afternoon with a 1 p.m. match against Urbana at Mihalik-Thompson Stadium. The Rock will not play another road game until an Oct. 6 showdown at East Stroudsburg.

Meanwhile, Roopchandsingh (Roopie) has played in all of "The Rock" 5 games this season, recording a total of 3 assist and two goals to his name.

Roopchandsingh told the Soca Warriors Online (SWO): "I really love the school, the coach (Mike Bonelli) is really nice and makes you want to play for him, my new teammates has also welcomed me with open arms and its great to have the all round support."

"Compare to the level I played last season (level 3), this level (division 2) is really high and very competitive, the players are stronger and they give you no chance on the ball, but I am enjoying it and really learing as I go on, my football is getting better in every game, this is really a good experience and a good stepping stone for me."

"I am thankfull for the experience I've had with the T&T Under 20 team earlier this year because it has really prepared me for this level, playing with bigger, stronger and technically better players in Trinidad has open my eyes and now I am able to cope with the level I am at right now, ended Roopie."
