Former Trinidad and Tobago national under 20 invitee Kyle Bethel earned top league honors as Oakland had a total of 12 players earn All-Summit League recognition, as voted on by the head coaches and announced at The Summit League Championship on Thursday.
Bethel was The Summit League Offensive Player of the Year and Newcomer of the Year. The senior forward from Howell, N.J. scored six goals and had 11 assists to finish with a league-high 23 points. Bethel’s 11 assists rank No. 3 overall in the NCAA.
Teammates Miche’le Lipari, Johnny Dreshaj, John Timm and Scott Messer joined Bethel on the All-Summit League first team. The Golden Grizzlies accounted for five of the 11 first team member and are the No. 1 seed for The Summit League Championship which kicks off Friday at noon ET with Oakland taking on Fort Wayne at John MacKenzie Alumni Field.
