Kevin Leacock has been named the new assistant women's soccer coach at Seton Hall University it was announced by head women's soccer coach Kazbek Tambi.
Leacock, who brings nearly a decade of collegiate coaching experience with him to the South Orange campus, was most recently the assistant women's soccer coach at Stevens Institute of Technology during the 2012-13 season.
"We are very excited about having Kevin join our program," Tambi said. "He is a unique individual because he played at the national team level and competed collegiately as a goalkeeper and field player. He has had great experiences and I expect his knowledge will really add a lot for our players."
Leacock began his collegiate coaching career with the New Jersey Institute of Technology, where he served three years as the Highlanders' assistant women's soccer coach before assuming head coaching duties prior to the 2008 season.
He spent three years at the helm of the NJIT women's soccer program, overseeing all facets of the team's operations including recruiting, staffing, scheduling and fundraising.
Prior to the 2011 season Leacock joined the staff at Rutgers University where he spent one season as a goalkeeper coach for the Scarlet Knights. Last season he was the full-time assistant coach with Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken, N.J.
Leacock's unique coaching background also includes coaching stints at the national and youth levels.
He was an Assistant Staff Coach for the United States Soccer Federation U17 national team from 2007-10, aiding in the training of the squad's goalkeepers in addition to assisting the coaching staff with team training and administration.
Leacock's club youth coaching experiences include time with the Player Development Academy and the New Jersey Knights U11, U15 and U17 programs.
"He has a unique perspective on goalkeeping because he is knowledgeable about all the intricacies of that position; great goalkeepers are vitally important and can add a lot to the success of a program," Tambi said. "We are really thrilled about what he is going to bring to that part of our team."
As a player Leacock competed collegiately for Long Island University and for the Trinidad & Tobago Football Federation. At LIU from 1995-98, Leacock was a four-year letterwinner, spending his first two seasons in goal before moving to center back as a junior and senior.
He helped LIU capture the Northeast Conference title in 1997, resulting in an NCAA Tournament berth. Leacock was a goalkeeper for Trinidad & Tobago for the national U23 team at the Pan American Games in 1994 and for the U21 squad at the Central American & Caribbean Games in 1993.
