The University of Maine at Augusta Athletics Department is pleased to announce the hiring of Roger Jack as the new head coach of women’s soccer beginning in July of 2013.
“I am very excited to welcome Roger to the UMA community,” said Athletic Director Warren Newton. “Roger has a strong knowledge and love of soccer that will lend itself well to his leadership of the program.”
Jack has coached soccer in the state of Maine since his arrival here in 2005. He has coached from the eighth grade to varsity levels at Greely Middle and High Schools and recently served as the Director of the City of Lewiston fall soccer program.
“I love the UMA campus and feel like I’ve been a part of the UMA community for the past three years, having worked closely with many of their students at the Boys and Girls Club in Augusta,” said Jack. “I feel very privileged to have the opportunity to work at the school.”
Jack grew up playing soccer in his native Trinidad and Tobago, and eventually left his country to accept a scholarship to Spartanburg Methodist College in South Carolina where he played two seasons before transferring to Brooklyn College in New York where he graduated with a B.A. in Film.
The Moose begin the season on September 8, when they host Central Maine Community College in Yankee Small College Conference action. UMA, a member of the United States Collegiate Athletic Association, offers eight varsity sports.
