University of Maine at Fort Kent senior, Kimika Forbes, goalkeeper on the USCAA National Champion Lady Bengals soccer team, has earned a spot on the Women's Premier Soccer League (WPSL) Boston Breakers reserve team.

Forbes, a native of Trinidad and Tobago, attended the team's tryouts at this past weekend in Hanover, Massachusetts.

With the Breakers' first-string goalkeeper leaving to join the U.S. National team, Forbes will have an opportunity for a spot on the team's roster.

Forbes was named a USCAA women's soccer 2013 First Team All-American. Her record during the 2013 season was 14-1-1. She saved 74 of 80 shots on goal for a save percentage of .925, which led the USCAA. Kimika recorded eight shutouts on the season. Forbes also is a member of the Trinidad and Tobago women's national soccer team.

“I'm very excited about the opportunity with the Breakers,” says Forbes. “Being a professional soccer player is something that I have dreamed about. Now I will have an opportunity to make that a reality.”

Forbes added that this year has been a magical one for her. First with the Lady Bengals national championship, followed up by her being named a member of her national team, and now her big chance with the Breakers.

The Boston Breakers Reserves feature some of the top, recently-graduated collegiate talent in the nation as well as established players with semi-professional or professional experience. The Boston Breakers Reserves will train with the full Boston Breakers' National Women's Soccer League team and follow identical playing philosophies, learning to play 'the Breakers way'. The Reserves will play an exhibition schedule against other reserve teams as well as competing in the WPSL.

Originally founded in 2000 as a charter member of the Women's United Soccer Association (WUSA), the Boston Breakers were one of eight teams in the first U.S.-based women's professional soccer league.
