The Bengal men grinded out a tough 3-0 shutout win over Lyndon State on Saturday.  UMFK outshoot LSC 17-2 in the contest and got goals from Andre Anderson (Manchester, Jamaica) Jarryd Phillips (Johannesburg, S. Africa) and Keith Williams II (Trinidad & Tobago) while Williams added an assist.  Freshmen Spencer Jacoby (Johannesburg, S. Africa) had an assist for 2-0 UMFK amd Giovanni Sinclair (St. Elizabeth’s, Jamaica) made two saves for his second consecutive shutout.  Jeff Giroux made 14 saves for 0-1 LSC.

On Friday the Bengals, ranked #22 in the NAIA preseason polls, opened their season with a 6-0 shutout of Thomas.  Freshmen Jarryd Phillips (Johannesburg, S. Africa) scored twice in his college debut while 2007 NAIA scoring leader Andre Anderson (Manchester, Jamaica) had one goal and three assists as UMFK scored three goals in each half.  Freshmen Keith Williams II (Trinidad & Tobago) had one goal and an assist.  Damion Stone and Henley Comrie (St. Elizabeth’s, Jamaica) added a goal each and Walford Stewart (St. Elizabeth’s) had an assist for the 1-0 Bengals.  Giovanni (St. Elizabeth’s, Jamaica) made two saves on two Thomas shots in getting a shutout in his first collegiate game as a goal keeper while Curtin Keegan and Anthony Wheeler combined to make 15 saves on 21 UMFK shots for 1-1 Thomas.
