Robert Morris University and Monmouth played to a 2-2 tie in Northeast Conference men's soccer action Sunday afternoon. The Colonials move to 2-8-2 and 0-1-1 in conference play while the Hawks see their record go to 7-2-2 and 1-0-1 in the NEC.
RMU took a 2-0 lead in the 54th minute with Stanley again providing the assist. This time junior Sean Riley (Kalispell, Mont. / Flathead) found himself on the end a Stanley corner kick and headed the ball to the far post.
Monmouth’s RJ Allen cut the margin to 2-1 in the 73rd minute and just five minutes later, Ryan Kinne provided the equalizer on Allen’s assist.
Neither team would find the gamewinner in overtime.
Monmouth held a slim 13-11 advantage in shots and a 6-4 margin in corner kicks. Senior goalkeeper Matt Felice (Mississauga, Ontario / Phillip Pocock) tallied five saves while Monmouth’s Bryan Meredith stopped three shots.
The Colonials host St. Francis (N.Y.) Friday, October 17, in a 4:00 p.m. kick-off at North Athletic Complex.
