The UMFK men’s soccer team displayed great balance in dealing SUNY Canton a 7-0 loss Saturday in Sunrise Conference action in up-state New York. Seven different players found the back of the net in the win which kept the Bengals record perfect at 13-0-0 and 9-0-0 in SC play.
Andre Anderson (SO Manchester, Jamaica) opened the scoring for UMFK in the 3rd minute on an assist from Keith Williams II (FR Trinidad & Tobago). The NAIA #10 team in the country then followed with scores from Williams, freshmen Jarryd Phillips and Emlyn Jacoby (both from Johannesburg, S. Africa) to close out the first half up 4-0 to a solid SUNY Canton side. The UMFK depth picked up for the starters in the second with goals from senior Andrew Gervais (Frenchville, ME), Wally Stewart (SO St. Elizabeth, Jamaica) and Henly Comrie (St. Elizabeth, Jamaica). Stewart had two assists on the day and Jermaine West (St. Elizabeth, Jamaica) added another. Giovanni Sinclair made two saves for his sixth shut out of the season in goal for UMFK who out shoot Canton 22-5.
