Ancil Farrier (Los Bajos, Trinidad) was named 2008 Northeast-10 Co-Defensive Player of the Year and selected to the All-Conference First Team for his performances this season. Teammates, Sean O’Brien (Guilford, Conn.) and Vinicius Da Silva (New York, N.Y.) earned All-Conference Second Team honors, and Paul Templeton (Saltcoats, Scotland) was named to the All-Conference Third Team. In addition, in his first season as an Owl, Daniel Goldberg (Williston Park, N.Y.) was selected to the All-Conference Rookie Team.
O’Brien has participated in 60 games for the Owls during his career here at SCSU. A team captain and defensive force, O’Brien has been a major part of 31 victories over these past three seasons. This is his second straight season earning All-Conference Second Team honors.
DaSilva is a key member of the Owls’ defensive unit and has the ability to join the offensive attack as well. Also a team captain, he has provided great leadership for this young team, a prepared them for seasons to come. This is DaSilva’s first selection to Northeast-10 All-Conference honors.
In his first season with the Owls, Templeton finished with seven goals and three assists, leading the team with 17 total points. He was named to the Northeast-10 Weekly Honor Roll four times this season and his seven goals placed him in the top 10 in the league. Templeton was a great offensive threat to all NE-10 members and will be certain to improve on his stats for years to come.
Goldberg developed into a valuable asset for the team in just his first season as an Owl. He is a creative midfielder that can generate offense from the wing, and has the ability to get back and play tough defense as well. He had two goals this season, earning him a spot on the Northeast-10 All-Rookie Team.
The Owls will look to prolong the 2008 season in the Northeast-10 Conference Tournament, when they travel to Rindge, N.H. to face the No. 3 seeded Franklin Pierce Ravens. Game time is set for 4 p.m. on Nov. 2.
