Marywood University had five players garner postseason accolades as the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) announced its award-winners today. Defender Mikhail Attong, midfielder Brett Megee, and goalkeeper Jared-El Gayeh were all named to the All-Conference Second Team while defender Sean O’Day was selected to the All-Conference Honorable Mention squad. Defender Josh Hicks was the fifth Pacer to be honored after receiving the CSAC Sportsmanship Award.
Megee (Easton, PA) enjoyed an outstanding rookie campaign to capture All-Conference honors as a midfielder. The freshman finished the regular season as Marywood’s leading scorer with 16 points on a team-high seven goals to go along with two assists. Megee scored two game-winning goals in conference play for the Pacers this season, including the winner in a thrilling double-overtime win over Immaculata University. The first-year midfielder was named CSAC Player of the Week for the week ending September 28th.
El-Gayeh (Baldwin, NY) joins Attong and Megee on the All-Conference Second Team after posting a solid freshman campaign between Marwood’s pipes. In twelve starts, the first-year goalkeeper posted an 8-3 record while posting a 1.15 goals against average and .817 save percentage. El-Gayeh established a new Pacers’ record with four solo shutouts on the season, including three against conference opponents and was named CSAC Co-Player of the Week for the week ending October 19th.
O’Day (Edwardsville, PA) was named to the All-Conference Honorable Mention team after a strong campaign in Marywood’s backfield. Alternating between central and outside back positions, O’Day helped shutdown opposing strikers while also being a threat in the Pacers’ attack. O’Day scored two goals, both game-winners, and also added a pair of assists. The junior transfer from Luzerne County Community College was named to the Lycoming Kickoff Classic All-Tournament Team and named to the CSAC Player of the Week Honor Roll for the week ending September 7th.
Hicks (Moscow, PA) was named as Marywood’s recipient of the CSAC Sportsmanship Award. The speedy sophomore started 13 of the 14 games in which appeared this season as a defender, helping the Pacers establish new program records for shutouts, fewest goals against, and lowest goals against average. Always a threat to join the attack, Hicks registered four shots on the season.
Marywood will host Centenary College in the first round of the CSAC playoffs tomorrow at 1:00 p.m.
