Maria MohammedMaria Mohammed and Courtney Evans were both selected as first-team all-South Region players as the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) announced its all-region teams. Freshmen Brittan Spence and Kendall Bourdon were also honored as second and third teams members.

Mohammed, a senior defender from Stafford, Va., served as the team captain while being one of five Spartans to start all 22 games. Mohammed tallied three goals and two assists as the squad’s top defender, including a game-winning goal at West Georgia. Her defensive unit allowed UT to outscore opponents 50-25.

Evans, a senior midfielder from DeLand, concluded her Spartan career while leading the team with 13 assists and 23 points. She becomes the third player in UT history to be a two-time All-American as she finished her career number two on the UT charts with 34 assists and fourth with 56 points.

Spence, a freshman midfielder from Southampton, Pa., was second on the team with six goals and seven assists and led all Spartan newcomers with 19 points. She also had two game-winning goals, coming against Tusculum and Barry.

Bourdon, a freshman goalkeeper from Virginia Beach, Va., took over as the team’s starting keeper and made an immediate impact. She finished with a 13-6-2 record while making 79 saves with a 1.07 GAA. She also turned in four shutouts while starting all 22 games.
