College of Charleston women’s soccer player Danielle Jordan (Charleston, S.C.) and men’s soccer’s Kareem Yearwood (Sousou Lands, Tobago) were named Student Athletes of the Year at the 2009 Multicultural ExCEL Awards on Friday.
Jordan, a senior physical education major, started the majority of the matches the Cougars played the last four seasons as a midfielder.
She was named to the All-Southern Conference team each of her four years as a member of the Cougar squad and finished her career scoring five goals and totaled 23 assists
Jordan was also one of the senior leaders of 2008 squad that won 12 games and started the year 7-0, which was a best in the history of the program.
Yearwood, a junior Pre-Business major, has tallied 22 goals and totaled seven assists in three seasons as a forward on the Cougar men’s soccer squad.
For the last two seasons he has been named to both the All-Southern Conference team and the NSCAA/adidas All-South Region squads. Prior to the 2008 season, he was named to the Hermann Trophy Watch List, which is considered college soccer’s most prestigious individual award.
