After a season opening victory, the Panthers then hit a two-game stretch that saw no goals but DU responded with a 3-1 victory over Olivet on Saturday. DU is now 5-0-0 all-time in home openers and will open WHAC play next Wednesday against Cornerstone.

After failing to score in the last two games, the Panthers offense came out firing in the opening minutes and got on the board in the ninth minute when Gerard John-Williams (Trinidad & Tobago) scored his first goal of the season to put DU up 1-0.

Duvare Minto (St. Mary, Jamaica) then gave the Panthers a two goal lead when he scored on a header at the 27:08 mark. Olivet did come back and cut the lead in half just six minutes later and the game went into the break with Davenport leading 2-1.

After some solid defense in the first 30 minutes of the second half, DU got through the Olivet back line and Brett Gentry (Edwardsburg, Mich.) scored his first career goal on a beautiful pass from David Wood (Middlesborough, UK) for the final outcome of 3-1.

The Panthers outshot Olivet 18-8 and James Gilpin (Necastle, UK) earned his second win of the season in net.

Davenport improves to 2-2-0 on the year and will travel across town on Wednesday to take on Cornerstone University in a 4:00 matchup.
