Andre Anderson (Manchester, Jamaica) and Walford Stewart (St. Elizabeth, Jamaica) had two goals and an assist each to lead the UMFK men’s soccer team past Maine Machias 8-1 Sunday afternoon in Sunrise Conference action in Fort Kent.  UMFK moves to 5-0-1 with the win and stay’s unbeaten in conference play at 2-0 while UMM drops to 1-4 (0-1-1 SC).

UMFK opened the scoring with two goals three minutes apart in the 15th and 18th minute.  Sophomore Jermaine West (New Baalbec, Jamaica) was taken down in the box by a UMM defender leading to a UMFK penalty kick which was converted by senior captain Emlyn Jacoby (Johannesburg, South Africa).  Three minutes later Stewart crossed a ball to a unmarked Keith Williams II (SO Trinidad & Tobago).  Stewart added his second goal of the game in the 44th minute on an assist from West to put UMFK up 3-0 at intermission.

Anderson scored two pretty goals forty seconds apart to open second half scoring for UMFK.  The goals were scored in the 47minute on a low shot from the top corner of the 18 set up by Jacoby and Willams while the second came on a header in traffic on an assist from Luka Odak (JR Kutina, Croatia).  UMM scored their lone goal of the contest in the 52nd minute with Tom Erlenback beating UMFK keeper David Girouard (St-Eustache, Quebec ).  UMFK then received another goal on a header as Fort Kent’s own Shane Theriault finished a cross from Williams in the 72nd minute.  Freshmen forward Shawn Parker (Madawaska, ME) finished the scoring on the day as he tallied an unassisted goal in the 86th minute.  Kyle Lancaster made 14 saves on 22 UMFK shots on goal while Giovanni Sinclair made one save in 52minutes of play in goal for UMFK to earn the win.  Girouard finished the contest in goal for UMFK making zero saves on one UMM shot.
