Senior midfielder Jason Rudder and senior back Trevor Kelley both scored goals as East Stroudsburg University upset No. 18-ranked Mercyhurst 2-1 in non-conference men’s soccer on Saturday afternoon in northwest Pennsylvania.

Rudder scored an unassisted goal, his second of the year, in the 26th minute to give the Warriors a 1-0 lead and Kelley’s goal in the 72nd minute was assisted by sophomore midfielder Dominick Frabizio and proved to be the game-winner.

Mercyhurst cut the deficit to 2-1 with 8:23 left on a goal by Paul Neill, but ESU held off the Lakers, who held advantages of 23-15 in shots and 8-0 in corner kicks.

Senior goalkeeper Larry Pokrywa made five saves for ESU and Diego Gustin was credited with four saves for Mercyhurst.

The Warriors are back at Eiler-Martin Stadium on Tuesday with a non-conference game against Holy Family in the second half of a doubleheader.
