Robert Als and Luke Wilson both scored in the final 15 minutes, providing Cumberland with a 2-0 victory over Emmanuel College Friday in men’s soccer action at the Golden Corral Classic in Barbourville, Ky.
Cumberland played the final 20 minutes of the match a man up after Emmanuel’s Alex Wright picked up his second yellow card in the 70th minute. Als scored seven minutes later and Wilson followed five minutes after that for the only two scores of the very physical match, which featured six yellow cards in all.
Each team took 10 shots in the match, five on goal, and collected 12 fouls apiece. Gubby John-Williams made five saves for the Bulldogs in goal, while Emmanuel’s Anel Lilic posted three saves.
