Former National Under 20 and Under 17 midfielder Sean De Silva has been named captain of College of Charleston for their upcoming College Division One season in the United States.
De Silva was voted captain by his teammates as they continue their preseason campaign. They face American MLS club Toronto FC at home in a friendly today (Thursday).
“It’s great to be named captained especially as my teammates voted on it. I have two years left here so I’m sophomore captaining the team.
It means I’m always putting the team first instead of me and now it’s not just about setting a good example and being a leader on and off the field,” De Silva said.
Last season the former St Mary’s College and La Foucade Coaching School member, led Charleston in assists and game winners.
He played for T&T at the 2007 FIFA Under 17 and 2009 FIFA Under 20 World Cups and also made his senior debut in a friendly versus Panama in 2009.
