Keith Williams II (Sr, Trinidad & Tobago) scored twice to lead the UMFK men's soccer team past Daemen College 4-1 Monday afternoon. The Bengals (3-1) completed a four day three game road swing 2-1 with the win.
The Bengals scored first for the fourth straight game as freshman Phathizwe Sacolo (Johannesburg, South Africa) struck the ball inside the far right post from the left wing on a beautiful feed from senior Keith Williams II (Trinidad & Tobago) in the fourth minute of the contest. Williams would add his own first of two goals on the day in the 32nd minute to give UMFK a comfortable 2-0 advantage.
Daemen striker Kyle Clifford cut the Bengal lead to just one when he notched his fourth goal of the season in the 44th minute. However, the Bengals answered in the 45minute with a goal by red-hot forward Wilfried Monthe (Montreal) as he headed in a crossing feed from winger Jamie De Abreu (Perth, Australia). Monthe’s goal was his fifth goal of the weekend.
Williams added his second goal of the contest early in the second half as he headed in a corner kick from midfielder Jack Petrie (Fy, Brisbane, Australia).
UMFK goalkeeper David Girouard (St-Eustache, Quebec) made just one save in the game to pick up the win. Mike Obermeier made seven saves for Daemen they were outshot 11-2 on target and 17-8 overall.
