The men’s soccer team overcame a 1-0 halftime deficit with three unassisted second half goals to defeat the Bulldogs of Brooklyn College, 3-2, in a CUNYAC road contest played on Wednesday afternoon at Kingsborough Community College in Brooklyn.

With the result, the visiting Bearcats improve to 4-4 overall and 2-0 in CUNYAC, while Brooklyn drops to 0-5 overall and 0-2 in CUNYAC.

Brooklyn scored first at the 9:46 mark with Pajtim Gjonbalaj scoring off a rebound with a header for the early 1-0 home lead.

The Bearcats took control in the second half and tied the contest at 55:44 with Vincent Cruz scoring unassisted on a rebound off the crossbar. They stretched the lead to 3-1 with Alvaro Velasquez (63:44) and Akil George (86:29) each scoring on free kicks.

Brooklyn cut the score to 3-2 with an Igor Kozlov strike at 87:02, but the defense held on the rest of the way to record the conference victory.

Michael Murphy totaled 10 saves to keep the team undefeated in CUNYAC.

The men’s soccer team will return to action on Wednesday, September 28, with a 6:00 pm CUNYAC home contest at the Met Oval against John Jay College of Criminal Justice.
