UAlbany men's soccer dropped its third consecutive match to conference foe UMBC, 2-1, on Saturday, Oct. 1. The Great Danes were held to only seven total shots and four on net. Freshman midfielder Pomare Te Anau tallied his third goal on the season.
The first half was a defensive battle between UAlbany (4-5) and UMBC (4-3-2) with both teams only tallying nine shots and four corners.
After a scoreless first half, the Great Danes took the lead in the 62nd minute with a goal from freshman midfielder Pomare Te Anau to grab a 1-0 lead.
Then UMBC came back with two consecutive goals in the 72nd minute from sophomore forward Pete Caringi and 77th minute by senior forward Andrew Bulls to give the Bulls a 2-1 to eventually give them the win.
The Great Danes senior goalkeeper Adrian Foncette tallied a career high 15 saves on 17 chances. The Bulls senior goalkeeper Dan Louisignau recorded four saves on five chances.
UAlbany will continue its 2011 season with its sixth consecutive road game vs. Colgate on Tuesday, Oct. 3 at 7pm.
