Central FC will attempt to rebound from a 1-0 defeat to the Vancouver Whitecaps in the Concacaf Champions League when they host the Sporting Kansas City from 8:00pm at the Ato Boldon Stadium, Couva tonight in group C.
Jones was left out of the opening game which the Sharks lost, courtesy a 34th minute strike by Cristian Techera and now they need maximum points before they travel to Canada and the USA in what are expected to be difficult return matches.
Meanwhile Kansas City also had some adjustment to their roster ahead of this match following a bout of injuries. Swope Park Rangers defender Amer Didic and winger Tyler Pasher signed short-term loan deals late last week, to add depth to a squad that will play five games over 15 days, four of which on the road.
Midfielders Roger Espinoza and Soni Mustivar served one-game suspensions on Saturday but will be available for selection as Sporting Kansas City will play its first Champions League match since October 2014. Their additions will bolster a team that will miss Matt Besler (MCL strain), Justin Mapp (calf strain), Tim Melia (back spasms) and Chance Myers (hamstring strain) through injury. Center back Ike Opara is also in doubt after suffering a foot injury in the 35th minute of Saturday's draw.
The Sharks on the other hand, has enjoyed tremendous success since its founding in 2012, claiming two straight TT Pro League titles and are two-time defending champions of the CFU Club Championship, a tournament contested by the best clubs from the Caribbean Football Union. Central FC are making their second appearance in the CONCACAF Champions League, having crashed from the 2015-16 group stage last fall after finishing second behind LA Galaxy.
