A 19-man W Connection squad will leave today at 5.30pm for Honduras where they will come up against Real CD Espana in their Group D opener of the 2009/2010 Concacaf Champions League group of 16 competition on Thursday in San Pedro Sula.
Earlier this month, W Connection, the four-time T&T and Caribbean Football Union Club champions rallied from an early deficit to defeat the New York Red Bulls 2-1 in the second-leg of a Concacaf Champions League preliminary round in New Jersey for a 4-3 aggregate win to advance to the group stages where they will also meet Pumas UNAM (Mexico) and CSD Comunicaciones (Guatemala).
Real Espana, led by a hat-trick from Honduran international, captain Carlos Pavon hammered Costa Rica’s Liberia Mia 6-0, at the San Pedro Sula Stadium, to win 6-3 over the two legs after losing the away leg 3-0 to reach the group staged.
