A depleted 16-member bmobile Joe Public squad will depart this morning on a 7.50 am flight for Ohio, where it will meet Columbus Crew of the MLS (Major League Soccer), in a Concacaf Champions League Group B match on Tuesday from 8 pm at the Columbus Crew Stadium, Columbus, Ohio. Currently, Joe Public is anchored at the bottom of the group standings on one point along with Guatemala’s Municipal. Mexico’s Santos is at the top with maximum six points from its two matches followed by Crew with three points. The Eastern Lions were hammered 5-2 at home by Santos in their first group match before eking out a 1-1 draw away to Municipal with winger Micah Lewis scoring a 90th minute equaliser.

Crew defeated Municipal 1-0 at home but then suffered a similar 1-0 loss away to Santos. Coach Derek King will have the availability of only 16 players due to suspensions and visa problems. Speaking after his team held its final training session at the Marvin Lee Stadium, Macoya, yesterday, King said, “We will be travelling to Columbus with a squad of 16 players because some of our guys have visa problems while others are suspended.” King, who led Joe Public to a historic five domestic titles last season, pointed out that the quartet of KareemYoung, Andre Toussaint, Andel Noray and Devon Jamerson (on loan from Ma Pau) will miss the trip due to visa problems; while defenders, Jevon Morris and Jason Springer are suspended.

Despite the absence of the six players, King said he thinks his team has enough quality to come away with a positive result. Joe Public: Glenroy Samuel, Trent Noel, Makan Hislop, Nigel Daniel, Kieon Goodridge, Kerry Baptiste, Hayden Tinto, Marcus Joseph, Kenaz Williams, Yu Hoshide, Micah Lewis, Marvin Phillip, Carlyle Mitchell, Gayson Gregory, Kareem Moses, Marvin Manswell.
