National team striker Cornell Glen has agreed terms to join local Pro League club Caledonia AIA on a short term deal.
Glen is awaiting the completion of his transfer and is already looking ahead to being part of the Jamaal Shabazz unit for the CFU Club Championship.
The 30-year-old last played for San Jose Earthquakes in the American MLS but did not have his contract renewed at the end of the 2010 season and is now looking forward to helping Caledonia attain success at the regional level.
“It’s a good challenge for me and I’m looking forward to helping ‘Cali’ to bring home the title and get into the Concacaf Champions League. It’s a short term deal.
I’ve been training and working hard to get back into good shape and I’m just excited about being part of the whole effort,” Glen said on the weekend.
Glen has played for local club San Juan Jabloteh in the 2008/2009 season and has played for MLS clubs NY/NJ MetroStars, Columbus Crew, FC Dallas, Colorado Rapids and LA Galaxy.
He appeared in all three 2006 World Cup matches for T&T and was also part of the line up during the 2010 Digicel Caribbean Cup.
Looking ahead to the upcoming Senior Team program under newly appointed head coach Otto Pfister, Glen said: “Well it’s going to be a bit of a new beginning again because this coach has to have a few sessions and then we’ll have a better idea as to his approach and style.
I’m looking forward to it because as a player you always want to represent your country in the best way possible and try to achieve success and we definitely need to step up our football if we are to have a good chance of qualifying for the World Cup in 2014,” Glen said.
