The Trinidad and Tobago Football Association has commenced series of grassroots coaching clinics for kids which will run at different venues across the country for the next eight weeks.

The clinics are being overseen by TTFA Director of Football Kendall Walkes. Sessions are being catered for kids under eight, under 11 and under 13. The first session took place in Central on Monday at the Hugo Francis Recreational Ground.

Each evening Walkes along with Muhammad Isa and a batch of assistant coaches will visit a different venue to conduct sessions which will entail an introduction to the game, the philosophy of grassroots, basic techniques, example exercises and small sided games.

TTFA president Raymond Tim Kee spoke on the benefits of this programme, saying “Being involved in grassroots football is a very rewarding experience. And improving our young players technically is one challenge, but contributing to a youngster’s personal development is also a fundamental goal and that is among the major objectives of the association.

“Grassroots football’s potential role as an educational, social vehicle cannot be underestimated. We believe it needs to be promoted for the benefit of young people, society and the game itself,” Tim Kee stated.

Kids are invited to attend in the respective districts. More information can be obtained by calling 685 7968 or 687 7652.
