Jinxed Jason Norville is hoping his move to Woking will finally end his seven-year injury torment.
The striker, who switched from Barnet this week, has suffered a succession of knock-backs which might have forced lesser men to give up completely.
Blighted Norville, who has signed a contract until the end of the season, said his troubles started after joining Watford as a trainee in 2001.
“I tore my groin and my lower back was weak. I had surgery but I came back a bit early after two months,” he said.
“I wanted to play and got on with it but it was the wrong thing to do.
“A month after that I tore my hamstring and that was ongoing for two years – it was a nightmare.
"I was coming back and trying to play through the soreness but every time I went above half-pace I would tear it again.”
Norville's troubles continued at Barnet, the latest injury being medial ligament damage in his left knee in November.
“For the past two years I haven’t really had a run of games.
"I’ve played six times this season but the last one was in September.”
But Trinidad-born Norville, who came with a favourable recommendation from Bees boss Paul Fairclough, reckons he is fit and raring to go now, and sees his transfer to Kingfield as his big chance to revive a career that was not so much flagging as fizzling out completely.
“This is my chance to get playing again. I didn’t want to go anywhere and sit on the bench – I need to be playing football,” he declared.
