Clint Marcelle crowned his Barnsley debut with a dream goal, then admitted the pace of English football left him drained!
"I am absolutely shattered," confessed the Trinidadian international striker.
"It is going to take another five or six games to get into the swing of things. My legs are very tired but my goal made it all worthwhile. It is the best possible start I could have had."
The 26-year-old, who cost Barnsley pounds 200,000, was recommended by former England boss Bobby Robson.
"It's great having a scout like Bobby," said delighted manager Danny Wilson.
"Clint is going to be a real crowd pleaser."
Marcelle opened the scoring with a well placed 22nd minute shot past Nigel Spink.
Andy Hunt made it 1-1 just before the break from the spot after Matt Appleby handled, but Andy Liddell settled it with a 54th minute header.
"Albion boss Alan Buckley said: "I wouldn't say we were useless, but certainly disappointing."
Barnsley had five new faces in their line-up and Neil Redfearn was delighted with his team's display.
Redfearn said: "We could not have wished for a better start. We were tight at the back and looked good going forward."
