Trinidadian Akil Pompey has helped his club, Khoromkhon FC capture the Borgio Cup (Mongolian Cup) after anemphatic 7-0 victory in the final over Ulaanbator City Bank FC on 8th July.
Akil completed a demanding first round of 7 league games in a week and gained 5 victories, 1 draw and a loss to end up in the top 2 positions in the League. The Borgio Cup pits the top 2 teams in the 1st Division and the 2nd Division in crossover semi-finals.
Ulaanbator City Bank FC had eliminated Mongolian's AFC President's Cuprepresentatives, Erchim FC on penalties to earn a spot in the final against Khoromkhon FC. Akil said, "It's a great feeling of accomplishment to come here in my first pro experience and win a cup.
It's been a little tough but all of us are finding a way to make everything work. I am very happy that half the job is done. Now I am looking forward to the second round ofgames with much anticipation as we strive to achieve the double." The 2nd Round League games will resume on a weekly basis on 4th August.
Khoromkhon FC is well poised to complete the double and qualify for the AFC President's Cup as they are currently joint top with arch rivals, Erchim FC.
