Andre Boucaud is determined to show that he has what it takes to play League 1 football again, following a stint in non-league.

Boucaud joined the Magpies on loan earlier this month following a successful trial that saw him impress across a number of pre-season friendlies.

After leaving Wycombe Wanderers in 2008, the midfielder had spells at Kettering, York and Luton respectively, with the latter two clubs paying five-figure sums to secure his services.

Notts boss Keith Curle has given Boucaud a Football League lifeline and the 27-year-old is desperate to repay the faith shown in him during an initial five-month stay.

“I just want to work hard and show people that I can play at this level, because I haven’t played at this level for a few years,” he said.

“Maybe people have doubted me but I’ve found that the gaffer has believed in me and has given me an opportunity.

“I feel that I’ve developed loads over the last few years because going down into those lower leagues it’s not nice at all.

“There’s less football played and it’s more physical, but you live and you learn.

“Going down in those leagues I know that I can play higher but it’s hard to get out when you’re playing in midfield, because you hardly play any football.

“It’s so much different from what I’m used to and hopefully I can excel in it and repay the gaffer by going on and doing well

“The higher you go up the more football that’s played, that’s what I’ve experienced from playing in the higher and lower leagues.

“It’s just so nice to come out and be able to play and pass it, not just kick everything long and I’m just so excited by that.”

“I’m looking forward to it a lot and obviously coming from Luton they’ve got a lot of fans there as well.

“It’s going to be good just to go out there and be back in the league.

“As a footballer you just want to play in front of big crowds in nice stadiums so it’s exciting for me.”

The Magpies kick-off the 2012.13 league campaign this Saturday with an away trip to Crewe Alexandra.
