Port Vale winger Chris Birchall has been offered a new contract - and named as the club's young player of the year.
The 20-year-old held talks with Martin Foyle yesterday as the manager stepped up his efforts to secure players for next season.
The Stafford-born winger was honoured at last night's Vale Park awards, during which Billy Paynter picked up the main player-of-the-year trophy.
Foyle said: "Chris has a super attitude and has shown a lot of promise. He only played one game last season, but has come into his own when he had his chance. Hopefully he can carry things on next year."
