Lincoln City have signed Newport County's Jake Thomson on loan as they look to reinforce their midfield.
The Imps have lost both Mo Fofana and Gary Mills to injury over the festive period and City boss David Holdsworth has wasted no time in bringing in Thompson to shore up the middle.
Thomson, 23, heads to Sincil Bank from the Welsh side on a one-month loan deal with a view to a two month extension.
The Portsmouth-born midfielder is of Trinidadian descent and has twice represented Trinidad & Tobago at full International level.
He began his career as part of the Southampton youth system in 2005. His development saw him progress through the ranks to make his Saints first-team debut in August 2009, in a Championship match against Cardiff City.
After a further 13 appearances at St Mary's, a period in which he experienced loan spells at Bournemouth and Torquay United before joining Exeter City on a permanent basis in July 2010.
During his year with the Grecians, Thomson appeared 16 times while also turning out for Cheltenham Town during six games on loan in which he found the net once.
In the summer of 2011 he signed for Kettering Town after a fruitless trial with Southend United, however his stay with the cash-strapped club was an incredibly brief one when he departed for Forest Green Rovers in late September.
His subsequent season at the New Lawn yielded 28 appearances with no goals.
