Jake Thomson insisted joining Lincoln City was an "easy decision" after revealing boss David Holdsworth tried to sign him in the summer.
The Newport midfielder made his debut in Saturday's 1-1 draw at Ebbsfleet just two days after putting pen to paper on a one-month loan deal.
Thomson said he had no hesitation in signing for Holdsworth having spoken to him about a move at the end of last season.
"I had spoken to the manager at Lincoln in the summer, but I wanted to stay down south with my family," he said.
"But as soon as I was made available by Newport, Lincoln were the first club which came calling.
"I kind of knew straight away it was where I wanted to go. It was an easy decision for me.
"I'm excited to be here although I know the transfer made a bit of a fuss on Twitter.
"But it was just a bit of banter and the aim is now to play as many games as I can and we'll see where we go once the month is up."
