CHRIS Birchall admits out-of-sorts Port Vale must get at least a point from tomorrow night's game at Bristol Rovers.

Defeat against Southend on Saturday means the Valiants have lost three of their last four games.

And Birchall says they're now desperate for a result at the Memorial Ground to get their promotion push back on the rails.

"We need to scrape a result to make sure we stay in the top three and any kind of result will do," he said.

"It doesn't matter how we perform any more. People don't care about performances at this stage. It's all about getting the result.

"It will be difficult. Their manager, John Ward is a good gaffer and I know him well, but we can't afford to lose.
"It's not all doom and gloom.

"Promotion is still in our own hands and, hopefully, we can go out and get a good result to put this bad run behind us.

"We're all looking forward to it and everyone is still upbeat. If we put our minds to it, I'm sure we can get a good result."
