Lester PeltierŠK Slovan Bratislava remain on course for a domestic double after the First League leaders beat MŠK Žilina with Igor Žofčák and Lester Peltier goals to lift their 13th Slovak Cup.

ŠK Slovan Bratislava clinched a 13th Slovak Cup with a 2-0 defeat of MŠK Žilina in Ruzomberok to complete the first part of a potential domestic double.

Igor Žofčák and Lester Peltier hit the goals either side of half-time as the First League leaders reclaimed the trophy they last lifted in 2011. Samuel Slovák's men will hope to add the league title as well, sitting nine points clear of FK Senica with five games remaining.

"The league title is not secure yet, but this win will provide a big motivation," said Slovák, who picked up his first trophy with Slovan since taking over from Vladimír Weiss last August. "We had a very good start but Žilina pushed hard. Nobody expected an easy game and I am delighted to lift this trophy."

The capital club were set on their way when Marko Milinković found Žofčák in the area and the captain scored from point-blank range. Trinidadian forward Peltier struck with a powerful shot after an outstanding Seydouba Soumah assist shortly after the break, leaving Žilina with an uphill struggle. They battled gamely with Ernest Mabouka and Babatounde Bello rattling the woodwork, but it was not enough to deny Slovan. "They had more desire for victory," said losing coach Štefan Tarkovič.
