Marvin Andrews vs Ajax LegendsMARVIN ANDREWS was an unlikely two-goal hero but Rangers went down 3-2 to Ajax in their final Master group game at the Hong Kong Sevens.

The Dutch side – with top stars like Jari Litmanen, Aron Winter and Kenneth Perez – have topped the section but Rangers still qualify for the last eight which takes place tomorrow.

It was a frustrating match for the Rangers All-stars as they lost a sloppy first goal and then got themselves 2-1 in front only to lose out in the end.

It was Perez who shot Ajax into the lead but Andrews was on hand at the back post to easily convert a Charlie Miller pass to equalise after good work from Michael Mols.

Caribbean star Andrews then scored a sensational second goal when he raced from half-way and produced a glorious finish which sent the nearby Rangers fans into raptures.

There was nothing Andy Goram could do about the leveller when Olaf Lindbergh curled a cracker into the left corner.

Then Lindbergh scored for a second time with a neat finish when he shot low past Goram who had no real chance from close range.

Rangers claimed second spot by virtue of goal difference, however, and move on to the knockout phase.
