Hoyte in T&T training.Midfielder Andre Boucaud says he’s relishing Notts County facing Sheffield United on the opening day of the new English League One season. The Magpies will play the Blades at Bramall Lane in their first league game in August.

United reached the play-offs last season and is tipped to challenge at the top of the division again this time. But Boucaud, who was one of the standouts for Notts as they finished in 12th place last season, does not fear them.

“Big club, big game,” Boucaud said.

“It’s the first game of the season and we’ve got to get off to a good start. It doesn’t matter who it’s against, we’ve got to go out and try to get three points. We’re not going to be daunted going there.”

Boucaud had a couple of good showings for T&T in their recent outings against Estonia and Romania and is in the squad for the upcoming Gold Cup.

Hoyte to embrace Gold Cup challenge

He’s worn the England shirt at the international youth level and he’s lined up for Arsenal and Middlesbrough against some of the best modern day players in England. But Justin Hoyte says running out for T&T in the Concacaf Gold Cup will be among his biggest moments in the game.

Hoyte made his debut for T&T in a recent 4–0 loss to Romania in Bucharest and is likely to play a role in T&T’s opener against El Salvador on July 8 in New Jersey.

“If the coaches see it fit and I’m in the squad then it’s going to be a huge honour for me. I’ve heard about the Gold Cup and I think this will be a massive opportunity for the country,” Hoyte said.

“This will be a proud moment for me and also for all the guys when we take the pitch at the Gold Cup,” Hoyte added.

Hoyte is currently in camp with the senior team, preparing under new head coach Stephen Hart.

“The preparations have been going well. The vibe has been good and the new coach Stephen Hart has been doing a good job. He’s settling in well and we’ll try to do everything he wants from us.

I think all the guys are focused on the job ahead. We’re working hard and trying to get the preparations going as best as possible so that we’re ready for the three teams that we face in the opening round next month,” he added.
