Andre Boucaud vs BournemouthNotts County midfielder Andre Boucaud is relishing the prospect of pitting his wits against Liverpool's array of stars in their Capital One Cup clash.

League One outfit Notts County travel to Anfield to take on eight-time League Cup winners Liverpool, live on Sky Sports HD1, aiming to cause one of the major shocks of the competition.

Boucaud, who was one of County's top performers last season, insists Chris Kiwomya's side have nothing to lose and will enjoy their trip to Merseyside.

"It's going to be a great night, a great experience for the lads coming up against one of the top teams in the country and hopefully we can go and put our best foot forward," Boucaud told Sky Sports.

"It is a big occasion for us, it may not be for them and hopefully we can go there and play well and prove a few peope wrong and get a result.

"We have not got much to lose because at the end of the day we are meant to lose - they are the Premier League team and we are the League One side we are meant to go there and lose, so we can go there and be confident and basically go and enjoy ourselves.

"Upsets happen and if we go there and start the game right and have a bit of luck here and there you can go and get a result."

Opportunity

The 28-year-old admits the Liverpool game is a 'great opportunity' for himself and his team-mates to test themselves at the highest level.

"As a footballer you want to play against the best and Liverpool are one of the best around," added Boucaud.

"It is a great opportunity for myself and a great opportunity for the other players as well."

The Capital One Cup clash will come as a welcome distraction for Notts County after a slow start to their League One campaign and Boucaud believes a good performance against Liverpool could kick-start their season.

"To be honest it has not been going great, we have played four games in the league and lost three and drawn one, but it's early stages of the season and hopefully we can kick on tonight and move on from there," added Boucaud.

Boucaud, who made the step up from non-league to League One when joining Notts County from Luton, starred for Trinidad & Tobago during this summer's Gold Cup, helping them reach the quarter-finals.

"The Gold Cup in America was a great experience for myself," continued Boucaud.

"It is a huge competition over there and we played against some of the best teams over there including Mexico.

"I have been called up again for a tournament in Saudi Arabia next week so it's going well that Trinidad are showing faith in me and the director of football there Leo Beenhakker managed Real Madrid and when you get people like that showing you a bit of love it is always good.

"I always believed I could play at the highest level, but just to get the opportunity is very difficult.

"I came from non-league to League One and no-one thought I would be able to handle it last season. I went on to play 43 games, so it is not impossible and shows there are players down in the lower leagues that can come and make the step up.

"I have been at the bottom and I have been at the top playing international football and I am pretty glad I did go down in the bottom leagues as it made me see football in a different light and now I am playing international football."
