The Columbus Crew announced today that midfielder/defender Kevan George has been called-up for international duty with Trinidad & Tobago ahead of an international tournament – the OSN Cup – held September 5-9 in Saudi Arabia.

The call-up from Head Coach Stephen Hart is George’s second on the senior roster after earning a call-up during the knockout stage of the 2013 CONCACAF Gold Cup in July. George previously made three starts in the 2012 Olympic Qualifying run with Trinidad & Tobago’s Under-23 squad.

While on international duty, George will miss two of the Black & Gold’s League matches, beginning tomorrow night against the Houston Dynamo (7:30 p.m. ET / FOX Sports Ohio). After playing the United Arab Emirates on Thursday, the Soca Warriors will either face New Zealand or Saudi Arabia on September 9 for the final or third-place match, meaning George will also miss the Crew’s trip to face Sporting Kansas City this Saturday, September 7 (8:30 p.m. ET / FOX Sports Ohio).

With the Crew, George has made a career-high 10 appearances – including three starts – through 26 matches in 2013. Of those starts, the Roxborough, Trinidad & Tobago native made two appearances – including a start -- at centerback and two starts and six substitute appearances in midfield for the Crew. The Black & Gold drafted George in the second round (29th overall) of the 2012 MLS SuperDraft and in his rookie season he made seven appearances, including four starts.
