Striker Kenwyne Jones is all smiles and enjoying his football again at Stoke City.
Despite being linked to the likes of Everton, the big forward remains with Stoke until the next transfer window, but seems pleased to be at the club after scoring a hattrick last month and getting the start in their recent 1-0 win over West Ham United.
“It was a good performance and important to get the win to go with that, more so for us because it's really showing that we can achieve a win away from home,” Jones said.
“It is a different approach to take the game to West Ham. We’ve had the players to do that for quite a while, but you know it’s a different philosophy now and things are going well.
“Two starts in four days, I must be tired,” he jokes, before adding: “No, I'm happy to get my chance and hopefully I can keep doing enough to get more.
“It's been frustrating, of course. For nearly two years I’ve been on the sidelines for whatever reasons, and I'm just happy to be enjoying my football, enjoying my training and enjoying coming into work every day to play football.
“I've been very frustrated, but I just tried to keep working hard. It's been rough, it's certainly been rough, but work is a happy place and football is even happier, so long may that continue.”
Jones is with the T&T team for today’s OSN Cup match against United Arab Emirates in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
