Former national youth team player Sean Cooper has signed a contract with top Surinamese club Walking Boyz Company (WBC) ahead of its domestic season.

The 31-year-old left T&T on Sunday to join up with his new teammates who have targeted the Caribbean Football Union Club Championships and Concacaf Champions League as their primary target.

Cooper, a former standout with St Anthony’s College in the Secondary Schools Football League, began his professional career locally with the now defunct Futgof before moving to Portugal then returning to join Joe Public, followed by spells at North East Stars and Tobago United ahead of his first stint in Suriname with Transvaal where he played for the past two-and-half seasons.

Prior to moving to Suriname, Cooper also played five months in the Brazil Sao Paulo League Second Division.

Last season, Transvaal, three-time Concacaf Champions League winners, finished in fifth spot in the ten-team league with 26 points, two ahead of WBC and 19 adrift of champions, Inter Moengotapoe.

Speaking prior to his departure for Paramaribo, Cooper said, “This season I will be looking forward to excellent games, helping my team to gain the championship and also to be the top scorer in the league.

“My main focus though is to remain healthy, injury free and consistent in order to get the opportunity to represent T&T again at the highest level.”

WBC plays its home matches at Suriname’s main stadium, the Andre-Kamperveen Stadion, which has 6,000 seats. The club currently has two other foreigners on its roster in Brazilian trio Franilson, Ailton and Alex and has won the domestic league (Hooddklasse) once, during the 2008/2009 campaign.
