You’d struggle to find a Falkirk fan who wasn’t delighted when Trinidadian International, Brent Rahim, signed a new contract with Falkirk. The tenacious midfielder penned an eighteen-month extension in December, which will keep him at the Club until the summer of 2005.
Brent’s move to Falkirk was somewhat of a surprise, it is no disservice to suggest that he wasn’t exactly well known by the majority of fans. The man who takes the credit for introducing him to the Club, though, is no stranger, “I was down in London, having finished my contract with Levski Sofia, and I was looking for a club. Russell Latapy, whom I know well from our International team, suggested that I should come up here, so that Yogi could have a look at me and I could see what I thought of Falkirk. Russell being a coach here definitely played a big part in my move, he really introduced me to the Club.”
Brent can see for himself now that things are improving rapidly off the park at Falkirk. As mentioned, he’s played around the world, and despite that, he’s very impressed – particularly with the training facilities, “At the time I was with West Ham, they were actually building an indoor training facility, primarily for the winter months when it’s difficult to train outdoors. It was pretty good down there, but you’d expect that from a team which was recently in one of the top leagues in the world. When I first arrived at Falkirk, I could see that a lot of work was going into Little Kerse, and that things were still going to improve. That’s a big attraction to the Club – it’s hugely important that you don’t stand still. It’s a fantastic facility we have, but the huge bonus is that there is still a lot of room and scope for development. Things are really moving here, and at the stadium. The training base is still improving, and will do for quite some time. The Club is building for the future, and it’s a very positive piece of work in progress.”
