Scot Gardiner has blasted title rivals Hamilton amid claims they beat Dundee to the signature of Jason Scotland.

The Dark Blues chief executive reacted angrily to comments made by Accies boss Alex Neil, who claimed the Trinidadian frontman knocked back a move to Dens.

That’s just not true according to Gardiner, the man tasked with negotiating the Championship leaders’ deals.

“It’s wrong and naughty from them,” said Gardiner.

“It’s mischief making to make them look good.

“There were a lot clubs offered Jason Scotland — we were never at any stage involved in talks for him.

“Their account is not true — there was no offer and no negotiation. We did not speak to his agent.

“I really want to clarify that for the fans because I would hate for them to pick up their papers and think we had been outbid.

“I’ve never spoken to his agent in my life.”
