A debut goal for Trinidad and Tobago striker Kenwyne Jones saw Cardiff City take a 2-1 victory over Norwich City in the English Premier League yesterday.

The win lifted Cardiff off the bottom of the league table.

Two quick-fire goals at the start of the second half saw Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side overturn Norwich’s first-half advantage, claimed by a sixth minute strike from winger Robert Snodgrass.

It also ensured Solskjaer secured a first Premier League win since taking charge of the Welsh club which, while not moving them out of the drop zone, got them off the bottom of the table at Fulham’s expense.

Jones, who joined Cardiff City from Stoke City where he scored 13 goals from 88 appearances, was one of two new signings used by Solskjaer for Saturday’s match.

Cardiff remain in the relegation zone with 21 points, three more than Fulham at the bottom. Norwich are on 24 points and Manchester City lead with 53 points.

Following his straight swop with Peter Odemwingie going in the opposite direction to Stoke, Kenwyne Jones made his debut in today's win over Norwich and even bagged himself a goal on the day.

Speaking to Sky Sports following the match, Jones admitted that the side really had to dig deep following the early opener from the opposition, and whilst clearly our first half performance wasn't good enough, he feels we were greatly improved in the second period.

'The team was a bit down but second half we came out and did the business.'

On a personal note he had far more to say, and said he was delighted to have moved to the club and he's really happy to be playing again.

'It was a pretty easy decision to come here when you want to play football. There are no 'ifs and buts'. Once you get good service you always back yourself to score and thankfully today it happened.'

Jones goes on to say that really Cardiff could've increased our advantage in the second half, but we did snatch at efforts and we need to show more composure, but that's down to the position we are in and the run we have been on, as players are anxious so hopefully this win will help settle people down, and we will get calmer and make more count as confidence rises again.

Hopefully the first of many more to come from Jones, especially as he beds in more with the team.
